Effectiveness of Video-assisted Teaching Programme on knowledge of B.Sc. Nursing students regarding Breast Self-Examination.
Abstract
Introduction: Breast cancer is a leading cause of mortality among women, and early detection is essential. Breast Self-Examination (BSE) is a simple and cost-effective method, yet knowledge among young women remains inadequate.
Methods: A quantitative pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design was used. 60 B.Sc. Nursing students were selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected using a self-structured questionnaire before and after a Video-Assisted Teaching Programme and analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics.
Results: Post-test knowledge scores were significantly higher than pre-test scores, indicating the effectiveness of the intervention.
Conclusion: Video-assisted teaching effectively improves knowledge of BSE among nursing students and can help promote early detection of breast cancer through community education.
