Effect of Health Education on Menstrual Hygiene Practices among Adolescent Girls in Rural Areas
Abstract
Background: Poor menstrual hygiene is a major concern in rural communities, affecting the health and school attendance of adolescent girls.
Objective: To assess the effectiveness of health education on improving menstrual hygiene practices among adolescent girls.
Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted among 100 adolescent girls aged 12–17 years in a rural government school. Pre- and post-test questionnaires were used to assess knowledge and practices.
Results: Significant improvement was observed in menstrual hygiene knowledge and practices after the educational intervention.
Conclusion: Health education had a positive effect on menstrual hygiene practices and should be integrated into school health programs.
