Abstract

Patient-centered care is increasingly recognized as a cornerstone of high-quality healthcare delivery, requiring nurses who are not only clinically competent but also capable of addressing the psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual dimensions of health. Holistic nursing emphasizes the integration of these dimensions into practice, promoting comprehensive care that respects patient values, preferences, and cultural contexts. This review explores the role of holistic nursing education and interdisciplinary innovation in enhancing patient-centered care, focusing on conceptual foundations, competency development, educational strategies, experiential learning, reflective practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and technology integration. Evidence from recent studies indicates that combining holistic education with innovative, interdisciplinary approaches improves patient outcomes, enhances professional competence, fosters effective communication, and increases satisfaction for both patients and healthcare providers. The review also addresses challenges such as resource limitations, faculty training needs, and institutional barriers, and discusses future directions for curriculum reform, research, and policy development. By synthesizing current evidence, this review provides insights for educators, administrators, and policymakers seeking to advance holistic, patient-centered nursing practice in modern healthcare systems.
