Abstract
International Women’s Day is observed on March 8 every year to remember and honour the achievements of women in different fields. It also draws attention to various challenges, for instance, gender discrimination, reproductive rights, violence, and exploitation. This year, the theme for the International Women’s Day, 2021 is “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world on the way to the Generation Equality Forum,†marking the stupendous endeavours undertaken by women in shaping the globe with better equitabletimes to come and recuperation from the COVID-19 pandemic. It highlights the importance of active participation in decision-making and leadership by women in order to remove gender bias and accomplish women empowerment, elimination of abuse, and exploitation of women. The theme under the flagship of Generation Equality campaign, “calls for women’s right to decision-making in all areas of life, equal pay, equal sharing of unpaid care and domestic work, and end all forms of violence against women and girls, and health-care services that respond to their needsâ€.
