Abstract

India has approximately 30 million dogs out of which stray dog population is
more than 80%. Stray dogs are responsible for 96% of human rabies in India.
15349 cases of dog bite were recorded in Shimla, in 2014. Stray dog menance is a
major issue in Shimla which is the capital and only Municipal Corporation in
Himachal Pradesh.
